Legal & Compliance Leadership Role
About the Position
RBJ is establishing a statewide leadership network to ensure legal protection, compliance stability, and operational integrity across every jurisdiction. Unlike our Zone Coordinators and District Captains — who must come from pastoral backgrounds — the State Sponsor role is primarily legal, regulatory, and compliance focused.
State Sponsors serve as the legal guardians of RBJ within their assigned state. You will monitor state laws, regulatory changes, municipal requirements, and any legal boundaries that protect RBJ from internal missteps or external threats.
Your primary responsibility is to answer to the ZC and ensure that RBJ's operations, personnel, and leadership structures remain fully compliant with state statutes, administrative codes, and industry regulations. This role exists because every state is different, and RBJ must be protected accordingly.
Why This Position Is Unique
The State Sponsor is the only RBJ leadership role that:
- Focuses primarily on state law, legal boundaries, and regulatory compliance
- Serves as the first line of defense against legal exposure
- Ensures RBJ's systems, personnel, and operations remain within state guidelines
- Works directly with other State Sponsors to maintain national consistency
- Provides legal clarity and protection to Zone Coordinators, District Captains, and City Captains
- Oversees statewide compliance audits, documentation, and legal reporting
Core Purpose
To protect RBJ by ensuring that every action taken within your state is legally sound, properly documented, and compliant with all relevant laws, regulations, and administrative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Statewide Legal Oversight
- Monitor state laws, regulatory updates, and compliance requirements
- Ensure RBJ operations adhere to all state-specific statutes
- Identify legal risks and implement preventative measures
- Maintain documentation required for state compliance audits
Internal Protection & Accountability
- Review internal processes to prevent legal missteps
- Provide guidance to Zone Coordinators and District Captains
- Ensure City Captains follow proper procedures and reporting standards
- Oversee compliance adherence by CCs, Pastoral Council, and district leadership
Statewide Coordination & Governance
- Attend mandatory meetings with all State Sponsors
- Participate in statewide and national compliance councils
- Provide legal clarity and boundary definitions for all RBJ leadership tiers
- Support the development of statewide operational frameworks
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit compliance reports to Zone Coordinators and RBJ leadership
- Maintain accurate legal records, incident logs, and state-level documentation
- Ensure timely communication of legal changes affecting RBJ operations

While pastoral experience is required for ZCs and DCs, State Sponsors must be legally minded, detail-oriented, and compliance driven. Ideal candidates demonstrate:

Minimum Qualifications
- Background in legal, compliance, regulatory, or administrative work
- Strong understanding of state-level governance
- Ability to interpret laws, regulations, and administrative codes
- High availability for statewide meetings and compliance reviews
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to provide legal guidance to operational leaders
- Commitment to RBJ's mission and protective structure
- Must reside within the assigned state
